Top 5 Reasons to Visit the UK

Here at SWAP, we absolutely love the UK! The United Kingdom is home to some of the most renowned festivals, events, coastal views, and landmarks – and so much more! If you are considering going to the UK, here are our Top 5 Reasons on why you should go!

1. 4 Countries for the Price of 1!

You really can’t get a better deal than this! When you go to the UK, you can travel between 4 countries: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Among these countries, you will find unique cultures, traditions, landscapes, and even accents! Travel to England to find tropical trees and ocean waves in southern England or make your way to Northern Ireland to discover spectacular steep cliffs and the incomparable rocks at the Giant’s Causeway. One country to the next, you are bound to find new stories, myths, fashions, instruments, food, and drinks!

2. Ease of Travel

Whether you are travelling within the UK or to other destinations in Europe, travel could not be easier! For example, you can take a 2hr train from London to Paris for just over $100! Compared to some Canadian flight prices, that is impressive. The transit system between countries in the UK is also nearly seamless; imagine taking a ferry from the Scottish Highlands all the way to the Northern Irish capital!

3. Culture & Lifestyle

Although the UK is only one country (technically), it is home to some of the most welcoming and culturally diverse people! The country continuously welcomes internationals to work, study, or live with loved ones. Beyond that, the UK is famous for its pub life and sociability (pub life, anyone?) UK citizens have some of the best (and cheapest) alcoholic beverages and you can find some of the best comfort food around. Wherever you may be in the UK, you can always find some mates and bevvies before going to your nearest sports game or festival :)

4. Prospering Job Market

The UK is one of the global leaders in economic prosperity, which means there are lots of jobs to go around! Especially in a post-COVID world, there are many jobs available for workers, no matter what skill level. The United Kingdom also prides itself on managing a well-functioning economy, including low taxation rates and some of the biggest manufacturing companies.

5. Living in History!

If you are a history buff, or just interested in a country older than Canada, the UK has some of the most beautiful historical landmarks! If you travel to England, you can find some of the oldest libraries in the world, the infamous Stonehenge, and the Insta-worthy Durdle Door! Outside of England, you can find castles that are at least 800 years old, the Calanais Standing Stones, and Giant’s Ring, an old passage tomb, thought to be older than the Egyptian pyramids!
